ENERGY

The Energy sector is the main business activity of Favina Group at the moment. Starting in 2004 with the purchase of Vithkuq HPP, Favina Group has continued to grow and expand its energy portfolio. At the moment, the Group owns and operates a number of Hydropower Plants, reaching an installed hydro power capacity of 10 MW. Additionally, in 2019 Favina became a minority stakeholder in Seman 1 Solar, one of the first photovoltaic parks developed in Albania.
Currently, the Group is able to produce 40 million kWh every year.

The Development

In 2004, Favina entered the Energy industry by completing the purchase of Vithkuq HPP, the first Albanian Hydro-Power Plant. Constructed in 1936, this plant had been out of operation since 1990. Favina managed to reconstruct it and put it back into operation. In 2010, the modernisation and upgrade of Vithkuq HPP was completed. In 2011, Favina Co. acquired the concession of HPP Qarr. HPP Kamenica was added to its portfolio in 2019 and in the beginning of 2020 the construction of additional HPPs was completed. These projects were completed with the cooperation of the Austrian Company Voith, which supplied the mechanical equipment such as the turbines, regulators and valves, whilst the Croatian company Sintaksa supplied the electrical equipment and conducted the digitisation of the plants, making them fully operable through the SCADA System.
